Tottenham: £82.8m pair 'aren't massively liked as people'

Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso aren’t massively popular at Tottenham, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The midfield pair joined for around £82.8m back in 2019, but both failed to make an impact during their two-and-a-half seasons in North London.

The arrivals of these two were meant to be the start of something special under Mauricio Pochettino, with Tottenham breaking their club record fee (£54m) to bring Ndombele to the club, before Lo Celso followed for £28.8m after a successful loan spell.

However, neither player truthfully ended up settling in English football, with injuries, a lack of fitness and poor form overshadowing their time at Spurs.

Ndombele scored six goals and laid on five assists in his 63 appearances, while Lo Celso was directly involved in just four in his 55 Premier League outings.

As a result, the duo were allowed to leave on loan in January, as Lo Celso returned to Spain and signed for Villarreal, linking up with former teammates Juan Foyth and Serge Aurier. Meanwhile, Ndombele re-joined Lyon.

Their respective Tottenham careers have been largely forgetful, but Bridge reckons that their poor form on the pitch is not the only reason why they’re unpopular.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Lo Celso and Ndombele, they aren’t massively liked as people, as well as players at Tottenham.”

Their respective returns to Tottenham rest on many things, with the main one being who’s manager next season.

If Conte is in charge, it’s unlikely that we see either pull on a Spurs shirt again, especially in a competitive fixture.

Ndombele’s start against Liverpool was the only time either player started a Premier League game during
