Tottenham: 38-cap star should be 'benched' by Conte against Brighton
Tottenham should bring Richarlison out of the starting XI against Brighton, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.
The 38-cap Brazil international has started the last six games in all competitions, but Bridge reckons now is the time to freshen up the side.
Richarlison made the move from Everton in the summer and had to bide his time before working his way into a team which possessed arguably the best front three in the Premier League.
His first four appearances were all from the bench, but since moving above Dejan Kulusevski in the pecking order, the 25-year-old has stayed there.
And Richarlison has contributed plenty, chipping in with goals and assists in both the Champions League and Premier League.
But including international duty, the forward has started eight games in the last month, and with the fixture list only getting more congested with every passing week, Bridge reckons the ex-Watford star should be rested at the Amex Stadium.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think this is the game where Tottenham could maybe have the opportunity to rest, I’m not sure what the right word is, but rest Son or Richarlison.
“Personally, I’d put Richarlison on the bench, he’s been a little bit too ineffective for me in the last couple of games.”
Richarlison is still waiting for his first Premier League goal in Tottenham colours, but he’s still had a positive impact.
He scored twice in the Champions League, a pair of crucial headers to secure the three points against Marseille last month.
In the Premier League, Richarlison has registered three assists, one of which came in the north London derby defeat last weekend, when he won a penalty after drawing a foul from fellow countryman Gabriel.
Overall, Richarlison has registered five
