Tories facing WIPEOUT in North West as Rishi Sunak risks his seat in new 'mega-poll'

The Tories are facing the prospect of losing every seat in the North West - while Rishi Sunak could be sweating over his own future.

That's according to the Survation MRP for Best for Britain 'mega-poll', which predicts the Conservative Party could hold less than 100 seats after the next general election.

It predicts that all but three seats in Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria will return a Labour MP after the next election - and none will be represented by the Tories. Cheadle would flip from Conservative to Lib Dem, as the only Greater Manchester seat without a Labour MP.

The Prime Minister could be one of 14 ministers and secretaries of state who could be ousted when voters go to the polls later this year, the Mirror reports. His Conservative Party, which had 365 MPs following the 2019 general election and now has 348, could be reduced to just 98 seats according to Survation.

Labour would comfortably emerge as the largest party according to the poll, with 468 seats, more than the 418 won by Tony Blair in 1997. Survation polled more than 15,000 people to gather the data.

According to the poll, the PM's lead in his Richmond and Northallerton seat is predicted to be less than 2.5 per cent over Labour, which is within the margin of error for most polls. Chancellor Jeremy Hunt's new seat of Godalming and Ash puts him in the lead over the Lib Dems by just one per cent.

Big beasts like Home Secretary James Cleverly, Defence Secretary Grant Shapps and Leader of the House Penny Mordaunt are all predicted to be ousted - as well as chief whip Simon Hart and veterans minister Johnny Mercer.
