Top scout announces 'mythical' Rangers move as Ben Davies handed grim transfer verdict - Ibrox news bulletin

There is a new face in the door at Rangers and while it is not a player, he will be helping them identify new arrivals.

Philippe Clement has added to his scouting network at the club ahead of his first summer transfer window with Anthony Galinksi taking on the role as Lead International Scout as he arrives from Royal Antwerp in Belgium. Sharing his news about his new gig, he wrote online: "Excited and honoured to be part of this mythical club as Lead International Scout."

While the new man in the door will be tasked with finding hidden gems and rising talents in the game, one player who Barry Ferguson reckons has a grim outlook in Glasgow is stopper Ben Davies with the defender 'out the picture'. The Ibrox hero believes the heart of the defence will become a key area to address this summer with John Souttar the preferred option alongside Connor Goldson for the Belgian. Leon Balogun is in reserve as is Leon King while Davies has fallen down the pecking order in the stopper ranks.

Balogun, out of contract in the summer, would be 36 if offered fresh terms while Goldson is also 32 at the end of this year. Looking at that alone, Fergie reckons a fresh face in that area of the park will make up part of the summer wish list for Clement. Speaking on Go Radio, Ferguson said: “I think he’s the type of manager who looks at the spine of his team and that’s the most important part. I think those are areas of the pitch that Rangers will be looking to strengthen.

"Ben Davies looks like he’s out of the picture, obviously, Balogun is a year older, and Connor Goldson’s what 31, 32? So I do think the centre-back area is somewhere the manager will look to strengthen.”
