Rangers told what they must do to silence 'fragility' snipers as Ibrox insider puts timer on backlash

Steven Davis has slapped down questions over the "fragility" of the Rangers squad after they handed the title race advantage to Celtic.

A slip-up in the Highlands on Sunday saw Ross County claim the vital three Premiership points with the battle for the Scottish title in the final stretch - leaving Celtic four points clear at the summit having played a game more than Philippe Clement's side. That has sparked questions over the mentality inside the Ibrox dressing room to handle the pressure and bring the league silverware to the blue half of Glasgow.

But Davis - who was stand-in manager earlier in the season before the arrival of Belgian boss Clement - has defended his former club and the mentality inside the dressing room. He insists that the questions can only seriously be asked by fans when the final whistle sounds on the season - with the Light Blues still in with a chance of winning the Treble.

The Rangers legend said: "For me, we didn't win enough trophies in my second spell at the club and we had the quality there to do it. We fell short at times and those questions are always going to be asked until you get the success that you want.

"It's a little bit early to be saying about fragility and everything. It's very easy to throw those accusations at the players and the club but they are still in a strong position, and can go on to have a really fantastic season. Let's judge that at the end of the season because they have shown a lot of character to get back into the title race from where they were at."
