Top restaurant closes as it 'struggles' to recruit experienced staff' in Prestwich

One of Manchester's best restaurants is to close its eaterie in Prestwich. The Scandinavian-influenced, Michelin-rated restaurant OSMA has been a feature of the village since it opened in 2020.

Tonight its owners announced it's final day of service will be Sunday February 9 ahead of a move to an un-named Manchester city centre location. The move is said to be because the restaurant has 'struggled to find experienced staff' to work in Prestwich.

The creation of Sofie Stoermann-Nass and Danielle Heron, it's name is an homage to their hometowns of Oslo and Manchester. Taking over a former kitchen showroom, OSMA launched in October 2020, and is heavily influenced by Danielle’s culinary CV at Michelin-starred eateries.

It's cooking landed it a place in the Michelin Guide last year for dishes which celebrate ingredients from local farmers, while seeking inspiration far beyond Bury New Road.

In a post on their Instagram account, the pair wrote: "We’ve spoken with some of you already, but it’s time to make it official. It’s with a heavy heart, but excitement for the future, that we have decided to close our Prestwich restaurant ahead of a move to the city centre.

"Being fully transparent - we’ve struggled to find experienced staff, leaving us with little to no personal life. We have made the decision to move on to what we hope will be a more sustainable business that can grow, and allow us more time to follow our dreams. This is by no means the end of OSMA.
