'Too many bad eggs' - Alan Shearer slams Manchester United players after defeat to Newcastle

Former England striker Alan Shearer blasted Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford following Manchester United's 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St James' Park on Saturday evening.

United, who were held to a 3-3 draw by Galatasaray in the Champions League in midweek, saw their three-game winning run in the Premier League come to an end following Anthony Gordon's second half winner. United manager Erik ten Hag made four changes from the side that drew with Galatasaray just over 72 hours earlier and among those recalled to the starting XI was Rashford, who was deployed on the right-flank to accommodate Garnacho's inclusion on the left. However, in the opinion of Shearer, neither of them did enough to help full-backs Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot, resulting in scathing criticism from the Match of the Day pundit.

"They [Newcastle] absolutely battered Man United in wide areas," Shearer told BBC Sport. "[Kieran] Trippier and [Tino] Livramento were sensational against [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka and [Diogo] Dalot.
