Too Good to Be True on Channel 5 - What it's about, how many episodes and who's in the cast

A new Channel 5 thriller that asks 'What if you got what you always dreamed of?' is about to hit screens, and it's fair to say the answer is 'nothing good'. Imagine if someone gave you a job you enjoyed for more money and fewer hours - no questions.

OK, it sounds like the living paradise we're all working for but could it be - in the words of Channel 5 - Too Good To Be True? The four-episode drama will attempt to persuade us that it's not all a bed of roses.

The plot follows single mum Rachel who is on the poverty line, leaving her working all hours of the day as a cleaner to provide for her son. Out of the blue, she is approached by a wealthy businessman offering her a new job with better pay and shorter hours. However, after accepting she gets drawn further into his life and begins to question his motives.

The programme stars Kara Tointon, known for appearances in ITV's Archie, along with Mr Selfridge, EastEnders - and also for winning Strictly Come Dancing. She plays Rachel, a stressed and broke single mum with an abusive ex who needs answers, and quick.

Allen Leech, best known for his roles as Tom Branson in Downton Abbey and Paul Prenter in Bohemian Rhapsody, is Elliot, her mysterious knight in shining armour. When he turns up, Rachel believes that all her problems could be sorted.

When asked about her character Rachel in Too Good To Be True, Kara said: "I liked the grit in her, the never-say-die attitude. She hasn’t had it easy, but she is a trier and she’s doing her best with the lot she’s been given.
