'Too easy' - Ruben Amorim has work to do to solve Manchester United's biggest weakness
Manchester United might have won the derby in dramatic fashion on Sunday, but their set piece failing once again almost proved their undoing.
Chelsea, Ipswich Town, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and, more recently, Manchester City have breached United from corners so far this season. Although, Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo’s goal was the result of an initially cleared corner.
In total, 42% of all goals the Reds have conceded in the league this term have come from corners, the second most in the Premier League behind struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers. The issue pre-dates Amorim’s reign, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saying the Reds were more susceptible at set-pieces when they failed to make the first contact with the ball.

Indeed last season United gave conceded 279 corners in 38 games, a huge number and one of the highest in the league. Just two weeks ago, they conceded two goals from corners against Arsenal in a 2-0 defeat to the Gunners. United had not conceded from two corners in one game since a game against Chelsea in January 2014.
Speaking after the game, Amorim said: “It’s my fault because I’m responsible. We try to do it in the best way. We did a lot of work in this area (in training) because we saw it in Arsenal and it was hard in this context. At the beginning of the game, we suffered in the first play, (so) it is hard then to put energy in the team. But we managed to do it.”
The weakness from set-piece situations was on show again when the Reds played Nottingham Forest in a humbling 3-2 loss. Forest secured their first Old Trafford win
