Tony Smith makes Hull KR prediction after craved downtime

Hull KR coach Tony Smith is in high spirits ahead of his team's clash on Sunday against Salford Red Devils, with Smith ready to see how his side responds after their recent week off. The Rovers boss had made it no secret his side was ready for a rest and had admitted over recent weeks that several of his players were fatigued after playing some big minutes during the hectic period.

However, Smith said he is happy with what his side has produced in training this week and believes the Robins will follow other Super League teams in coming back after the break switched on and rejuvenated.

"From what I've seen this week from the boys, they look fresh and have come back with a spring in their step," said Smith. "The week off did everybody a world of good, other teams have benefited from some downtime, and we are hopeful we will reap the benefits as others have.

"The defeats have caused mental fatigue as well. Of course, you develop resilience from those defeats, but we are a working progress, so it takes our younger lads more time to get over poor games. Hopefully, we are better for it."

Smith also spoke about Sunday's opponents and believes Rovers are improving each week and have to look at how they can hurt the Red Devils rather than worrying too much about what Salford are going to throw at the Robins.

"Salford are coming into form," he continued. "They've got some key players back from injury and are playing some good footie. They can hurt you, and we respect them. They are experienced throughout their team, but so have we.
