Tony Smith begins Hull KR mind games before Challenge Cup semi-final in Lachlan Coote injury update

Tony Smith wouldn't be drawn on the extent of Lachlan Coote's injury following Hull KR's defeat to Leeds Rhinos. The Robins boss said he was unsure if Coote had failed his head injury assessment and therefore keeps people guessing whether he will feature in next week's Challenge Cup semi-final against Huddersfield Giants.

Coote went off midway through the second half and was helped from the field by a trainer after an ugly-looking collision with Leeds Rhinos captain Kruise Leeming. He didn't return to the field afterwards, leaving people to believe he'd failed the assessment.

If that was the case, Coote would miss next week's game at Elland Road as rules state any player who suffers a concussion must undergo an 11-day return to play protocol to retain to the field.

Then when asked if he was knocked out cold, Smith replied: "I can't tell you that either, I don't know. There was a whole lot going on. We were shuffling people around at that period of time and got in here pretty quick.

Further injuries to Sam Wood and Matty Storton have left the pair doubtful for next week too. Wood was helped from the field with a knee injury and Storton suffered a shoulder injury.

"Knee, it's a concern, it's a concern,"
