Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul fight negotiations '90% done' with announcement imminent

Jake Paul and Tommy Fury have been in negotiations to arrange a fight after their original December date was cancelled following Fury's withdrawal. The deal to rearrange the fight is now believed to be '90% done', with Paul's coach Danny Smith confirming the news in an interview.

Tommy last fought on the undercard of older brother Tyson's world heavyweight championship clash, beating Poland's Daniel Bocianski at Wembley. Both he and Paul hold unbeaten records in their boxing career while also enjoying successful careers outside of boxing in the media.

Paul's trainer Smith has provided a valuable update as to the status of the fight, explaining to fans when they might be able to expect an announcement. “I'd probably say that we're around 90% done but we're just waiting on their end. We're good on our end. Whatever particulars that need to be worked out there end that's what we're waiting on," he told Vegas Insider.

“I think so without question [ Tommy Fury is the right fight for Jake]. And I like it because Tommy is a very fast foot guy, very fast hands and he moves around and understands distance and range, he boxes fairly well. It's going to be really, really good. He's not a huge puncher, but decent, with the right hand he is pretty decent.

" I think that it's a really, really good step up for both guys to be honest with. The reason I'm picking Jake to beat Tommy is because Jake has more of a dog mentality, the bigger puncher, and he's willing to trade."

Fury perhaps has the stronger boxing pedigree due to his family's role in the sport, with brother Tyson and cousin Hughie both operating at the top of the heavyweight division
