Tommy Fury explains ITV I'm A Celebrity snub as Darren Till admits 'I don't know'

Tommy Fury has opted for the boxing ring over reality TV stardom in a bid to leave behind what he describes as the worst year of his life. The 25-year-old is set to enter the ring again after a break of 15 months, facing former UFC stalwart Darren Till in Manchester on January 18.

Following a period of recuperation from hand surgery that addressed a persistent issue of four years, Fury endured a publicly tumultuous split from his fiancée Molly-Mae Hague in August, alongside which he was compelled to refute allegations of infidelity.

While it appeared that Fury was bound for the jungle in this year’s edition of ITV show 'I'm A Celebrity', he instead chose to accept a bout with Till, 31, who will be putting on boxing gloves for the first time. Expressing his dilemma, Fury said: "I'm A Celeb is an amazing show and it's something I want to do in the future but at the end of the day I am what I am, I'm a fighter and I've been doing it since I was a kid."

Discussing the emotional toll the past year has taken, Fury stressed the importance of returning to boxing: "It's been a long year, it's been a tough year; it's been the hardest year of my life because I've not been able to box.

"It was vital that I ended up in the ring sooner rather than later. It means everything to get back in the ring, especially to start off my year like that."
