Todd Cantwell sees Rangers exit put in doubt after Blackburn boss remark as ANOTHER Ianis Hagi transfer route closes

Wantaway Todd Cantwell has seen his Rangers exit thrown into doubt as Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace insisted no incomings were close.

The Light Blues had been desperate to offload the playmaker after he submitted a transfer request and has since been relegated to the B team. The former Norwich City man looked set for a return to the English Championship with Blackburn and Rangers agreeing a six-figure free for the 26-year-old - with all parties waiting on the Ewood Park owners to sign off the deal.

However, boss Eustace has cooled speculation over an imminent arrival for the Englishman - as he warned his recruitment team it was "important" to bring in the right type of player. Asked about the prospect of imminent arrivals, he told the Lancashire Telegraph: "There's nothing at the moment, the recruitment team are in discussions with a number of players and we'll have to see what happens.

"I don't believe anyone is having a medical, that I'm aware of. I think the most important thing is that we get the right players in.

"If there are any that come in and we think they can play and they beat the deadline, then great. If not, it's most important we get the players in before the transfer deadline. The club are trying their hardest and they're working their socks off. I am happy with that."

The chances of offloading Ianis Hagi also appear increasingly unlikely. The Romanian international took to social media to insist he is ready to fight for Rangers this week after turning down a move to Rapid Bucharest.
