Thugs attack bin crew with WEAPONS moments after driver swung at wagon with 'lollipop' crossing sign

A driver who threw punches at a binman was part of a gang of four who used weapons to attack another crew later that day. Video footage shows the moment thugs targeted two different bin crews in separate attacks within hours of each other.

It came after a roadside row which spiralled into violence, StokeonTrentLive reports. Drama unfolded when the driver of a black Vauxhall Corsa leapt from his car before reaching into the cab of a bin wagon to throw punches.

The cab door opens and the man can be seen squaring up to members of the bin crew. He then grabs a 'lollipop' school crossing sign from the boot of his Corsa before swinging it at the wagon as it begins to leave Fairhaven Grove in Birches Head, Stoke-on-Trent.

Later in the day, the Corsa driver is seen with three other men on Birches Head Road, where a different Stoke-on-Trent City Council bin crew is targeted. The attackers leap from the car - armed with what appear to be a hatchet, axe, sledgehammer and baton - and run towards the bin wagon, whose crew appear oblivious to what is going on.

The vehicle is quickly set upon, and one member of the bin crew is struck across the body with a baton. As one member of the four-strong gang smashes the windows of the cab, another crew member can be seen being attacked as he falls over a wheelie bin.

The driver of the first bin lorry driver was punched three times through a window during the attack, and needed hospital treatment for head, face and foot injuries. Three binmen were injured in the second attack, with one of them needing hospital treatment for facial, head and leg injuries.
