Three signings, eight exits - Manchester United's dream squad after 11 transfers

The clock counting down to the start of the season and the end of this summer's transfer window is now ticking slightly louder.

Manchester United wrapped up their pre-season preparations over the weekend, losing their final friendly of the summer 3-0 to Liverpool in South Carolina. The next time they take to the field, a trophy will be up for grabs at Wembley.

The Community Shield is often described as a glorified friendly, acting as the last dress rehearsal before the Premier League season starts the following weekend. Facing neighbours Manchester City, United will not be able to take their latest Wembley showdown lightly.

Ineos, whatever the competition, share Erik ten Hag's ambition of winning, meaning no stone will be left unturned in preparation. However, United are having to manage a squad where injury issues are already creeping in, highlighting their need to add fresh legs to the squad before the window closes on August 30.

United have made two new additions to Ten Hag's squad this summer and it is abundantly clear they need more. Business has not been as fast as supporters would have hoped, meaning they are hoping for a flurry of activity before the bell.

With that said, MEN Sport has had a look at the most logical deals United need to try and get done before the window closes.

In June, Sir Jim Ratcliffe warned that United would require "two or three" summer transfer windows to get the squad into the position they want it to be in. It was always unrealistic to expect everything to fall into place this summer.
