Three share lead at Sony Open, as Power makes the cut

Austin Eckroat, South Korea's Byeong Hun An and China's Carl Yuan all birdied their final hole of the second round on Friday in Honolulu to share the lead at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

An posted a 6-under-par 64 at Waialae Country Club, leaving him at 9-under131. Yuan was 5 under for the day, and Eckroat was 4 under.

The trio have a one-shot edge on Ben Griffin, Stewart Cink, Keith Mitchell, Taylor Montgomery, Kurt Kitayama, Chris Kirk, Grayson Murray, Germany's Stephan Jaeger, France's Matthieu Pavon and first-round leader Cam Davis of Australia.

FULL LEADERBOARD

Eckroat, 24, is seeking his first career PGA Tour win in his 45th start, while An, 32, is winless in 181 career prior starts.

Yuan, 26, has never finished in the top three of an event in 34 previous starts. He earned full playing status for the 2024 season when Jon Rahm signed with LIV Golf, bumping Yuan from126th in the FedEx Cup standings to 125th.

Seamus Power registered a gutsy, blemish free 66 to climb to two-under to sit just inside the cut line after his round.

Having failed to register a birdie until the 8th on Friday, Power proceeded to rattle in three in a row to reach the turn in one-under for the tournament.

Another birdie arrived at the short 17th, though Power was unable to add another at the par-5 18th. The two-time PGA Tour winner sits in an enormous grouping in tied-47th containing Corey Conners, Russell Henley and Justin Rose among others.

Gary Woodland, playing his first event after undergoing brain surgery in September, and Will Zalatoris, returning from back surgery that kept him out for nine months, both missed the cut. Woodland shot 1-over 71 on both Thursday and Friday. Zalatoris produced a second-round 69, but it wasn't enough to overcome a
