Three new caps in Blitzboks squad for Hong Kong and Singapore Sevens

Three uncapped players have been named in the Blitzboks squad for the next two World Rugby Sevens Series tournaments. 

Donovan Don, Ethan James and Sebastiaan Jobb are in line for their first taste of international sevens rugby over the next fortnight at the Hong Kong and Singapore Sevens. 

Two players who missed the recent trip to North America, Shaun Williams and Tiaan Pretorius, are back in the squad after recovering from injuries that have kept them on the sidelines.

Two of the rookies, Don and James, joined the sevens programme at the start of the year but had been struggling with injuries.

Both, however, played for the Junior Springboks last year. Jobb is back in the national sevens set-up after playing for the South Africa 'A' Sevens side previously. 

Springbok Travis Ismaiel, who missed the Vancouver leg of the World Series due to injury, is also back in the squad.

The Blitzboks remain without the services of Selvyn Davids, Ronald Brown, Dewald Human, Justin Geduld and Jaiden Baron, who are all still injured.

Speaking at the naming of his squad, Blitzboks coach Sandile Ngcobo said he was looking forward to what the new blood could bring to the team.

"I believe we have selected the strongest possible squad for this very important trip to Hong Kong and Singapore, and I'm very excited to see what the three new players can do in a tournament situation," said Ngcobo.
