Three Declan Rice alternatives for Manchester United after West Ham United reveal transfer plans
Erik ten Hag has now been confirmed as the next permanent manager of Manchester United on a three-year deal with the option to extend for a further year. However, now that the question of who will be in the dugout at Old Trafford next season has been answered, the fanbase has now moved on to transfers.
United will need to address several positions in the transfer window, especially given that Ten Hag has a specific style of play that he wants to implement. And at the top of that list for many fans will be a new defensive midfielder.
Declan Rice has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but it seems unlikely that they will be able to sign him this summer. According to The Athletic, West Ham United do not want to sell Rice this year and are willing to wait till 2023 to try and attain a £150m fee for the English midfielder.

Many fans' main alternative to Rice. Tchouameni has been impressing at Monaco this season both in the French league and also in Europe with his defensive displays in midfield.
Real Madrid have are also reportedly interested in Tchouameni and will look to bring him to the Bernabeu this summer, but the player prefers a move to the Premier League according to reports in Spain. He would be the best option available for United, but given the circumstances the club is in, they may miss out due to other teams being able to offer him Champions League football.
