Thomas Frank gets sarcastic about ‘putting the B team out’ in relegation promise to Leeds, Everton, Burnley

Thomas Frank insists Brentford will be giving it their all against Leeds on the final day of the season – but could not resist a joke about the possibility of playing the Bees’ B team.

The west London side host Leeds in what is a particular big day for the Yorkshire club. Sitting just a point above the drop zone, they need the points to retain their Premier League status. Also sweating over their futures are Everton and Burnley, who too could also go down.

The Clarets currently occupy the final relegation place in 18th. They, however, take on Aston Villa on Thursday knowing a point will see them trade places with Leeds going into the final day.

Everton, meanwhile, can spare themselves from last day nerves with a win over Crystal Palace at Goodison on Thursday.

But it is the match at the Brentford Community Stadium which will probably have most of the attention. Leeds have a bit of a recent history with the Bees, with the two sides going toe-to-toe for promotion over a couple of seasons.

When Leeds did make it up, at Brentford’s expense, some Leeds players could not resist a dig at Frank over their failure.

Brentford of course did make it up the season after and now Sunday’s match grants Frank the chance to exact revenge.

However, Frank insists he pays no attention to what has happened in the past. Furthermore, he insists he will be going all out for a win that could secure Brentford an impressive top-half finish.
