This Morning viewers say it's 'strange' as Hollywood star's chat halted before leaving Alison Hammond close to tears

This Morning viewers were left baffled when an interview with a major Hollywood star was 'cut off' before returning a minute later in an awkward live moment. Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary were at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Friday (May 19).

They were joined on the famous sofa by Kelsey Grammer to chat about his latest film, Jesus Revolution. The chat was in full swing as the Fraiser star told the hosts about the ‘divine intervention’ that got him involved with his latest project and it seemingly left Alison close to tears.

Speaking about Jesus Revolution, which sees the actor play US pastor Chuck Smith in the true story from the 1970s, Kelsey and Alison discussed spirituality with Alison being visibly moved before she told viewers: "I'm welling up here," and she also claimed the film made her want to be "baptised again".

But the lovely chat came to a sudden halt when Aliso informed their guest that they were going to have to take an emergency advert break. "Unfortunately, we have got a little bit of an issue," the 48-year-old said. "We’re going to have to throw to break."

The 68-year-old actor then shifted back in his chair, looked around the studio, and responded: "Oh," as Alison told viewers: "We’ll see you very soon." But the trio then sat in silence as the cameras continued to roll until Dermot, 49, ended up breaking the awkward silence.

"We’ve been told we had a little issue in our ears, but now we’ve been told that we’re back," he declared. The hosts and their guests then burst into laughter at the unusual situation and continued with the interview. But it still had This Morning viewers taking to social media.
