Holly Willoughby will return to This Morning for the first time since Phillip Schofield admitted lying to her about his relationship with a much younger ITV colleague.

The presenter hasn't been seen on screens for a fortnight after making the decision to take an extra week's break before her planned half-term holiday after Phillip suddenly quit the ITV daytime show after more than 20 years on the famous sofa.

But Holly's return to presenting duties was confirmed at the end of Friday’s episode of This Morning, which was hosted by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, and comes after her former co-host pal later admitted to having an affair while quitting his career with ITV altogether.

It has since been reported that the friendship between Holly and Phil is on the rocks after he admitted to the 'unwise but not illegal' affair. Following his bombshell statement, Holly later released her own saying that she felt 'hurt' that she had been lied to.

ITV bosses also said that they felt they had been 'badly let down' by the presenter. Meanwhile, The Sun newspaper has since reported that Holly, who will appear alongside Josie Gibson on Monday (June 5) after not hosting the show since May 18, is planning to address the recent controversy on the show, telling viewers how difficult it has been behind the scenes.

The Sun quotes the source as saying: "Holly wants to address Phillip's recent admissions about his affair. She will be honest and open, mentioning him by name. She's not shying away from the tricky subject as she wants to show up for the viewers and loyal fans.
