The joy of six happens to mean a lot to me.

Which is just one of the reasons why I hope Connor Goldson is wearing my old number for a good few years to come.

Look, I know a lot of people have been questioning his commitment to Rangers for most of the season because he is still to put pen to paper on a contract extension.

And, yes, it’s so late in the day now that it does feel as if the Englishman’s time at Ibrox is probably coming to an end. But I really believe that doesn’t have to be the case.

I kept my eye on the big man during the celebrations which followed the extra time wins over Braga and Celtic. And I couldn’t help but wonder what was really going through his mind.

And, having been out there in that very shirt, I think I’ve got a fair idea too.

I’ll be honest, when it was my turn, I probably took those moments for granted. I grew up as a Rangers fan and I knew what it was all about long before I ever pulled on the jersey as a first team player.
