'This is amazing' - Tim Spiers ecstatic as more good news for Wolves confirmed before Leicester

Journalist Tim Spiers has hailed the ‘amazing’ news that Wolves’ home ground of Molineux will host two England internationals later this year.

Bruno Lage and the club have already been boosted by the news that both Pedro Neto and Willy Boly are finally back in training ahead of the clash with Leicester, and now even more good news has emerged.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that the Three Lions’ UEFA Nations League matches against Italy and Hungary will take place at Molineux, in what is exciting news for the club.

England’s match against Italy will happen on June 11th, admittedly behind closed doors because of UEFA sanctions, but the Hungary game three days later will be in front of fans.

Gareth Southgate’s side will see the two fixtures as ideal preparation for the 2022 World Cup, which takes place in Qatar in November and December.

Someone who is clearly excited about the news is The Athletic’s Spiers, who took to Twitter to provide his thoughts on Thursday:

“This is amazing. England at Molineux. The tikka van and the £1 pork scratchings guy to an international audience.”

There is nothing not to like about this news from a Wolves perspective, with a certain amount of pride taken from the club hosting not one but two England matches.

It is also a positive update from a financial perspective, with the money received from hosting the games potentially going towards new signings in the summer.

The hope is that Wolves will be preparing for Champions League football at Molineux by the time England head there in June, as they approach a key final three months of the season.

In other news, one Wolves player is reportedly ‘in the sights’ of a foreign club. Find out who it is here.
