'This is a joke' - Manchester United fans fume as Boubacar Kamara 'close' to Aston Villa move

Manchester United fans have been reacting to the news that Boubacar Kamara looks set to sign for Aston Villa on a free transfer.

Reports in Italy have suggested that Steven Gerrard has snapped up the Frenchman, whose contract at Marseille will expire this summer. United have been frequently linked with a move for the 22-year-old as they look to bolster their midfield ranks.

However, the Manchester Evening News understands Kamara has never been a target for United. Erik ten Hag has already started planning ahead of what promises to be a busy summer for United, with a reunion with former Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong potentially on the cards. United are understood to be weighing up a possible £75million move for Dutchman.

Villa were busy in the January transfer window, with Lucas Digne, Calum Chambers and Philippe Coutinho all arriving at Villa Park. And they now look set to add Kamara to their squad.
