'This has to happen' - Manchester United fans react to Ryan Gravenberch transfer swap reports
Manchester United fans are split over whether swapping Scott McTominay for Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch would be a good move.
Reports in Germany claim this is a loan deal Thomas Tuchel is not only interested in but is holding talks over. Academy product McTominay is yet to start a game this season but has made two substitute appearances.
He has been the subject of frequent transfer speculation this summer, although it’s unlikely he will be shown the door unless a midfield replacement can be guaranteed. The Reds are currently light on midfield options with £60m summer arrival Mason Mount out injured alongside teenager Kobbie Mainoo.
And with Fred departed for Fenerbahce, Erik ten Hag only has Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes and McTominay to choose from within his senior options, with youngster Dan Gore making the bench against Nottingham Forest.

Sofyan Amrabat has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, having been left out of the last few Fiorentina squads. MEN Sport revealed last week that Gravenberch is also a target.
The 21-year-old played under Ten Hag at Ajax having come through as one of their many academy products before his 2022 switch to Bayern Munich. He has struggled for game time in Bavaria, starting just three Bundesliga matches last season and playing just nine minutes in the club’s three games so far this term.
BILD reports that Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is interested in McTominay, hinting that a swap deal could be done. Both parties will have to act quickly with the transfer window closing on Friday.
United fans are split over whether the swap would benefit their club, who loaned Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern last season.
