Thiago Silva’s wife demands ‘respect’ for Chelsea defender after criticism of Brentford display

Belle Silva has called for more “respect” for her husband, Thiago Silva, following criticism of his display in Chelsea’s shock defeat to Brentford.

The Brazilian featured in the 4-1 hammering at Stamford Bridge, which saw the Blues collapse depsite going a goal ahead through Antonio Rudiger’s fine strike from distance.

But, having, heard a television commentator disapprove of her partner’s performance, Belle Silva took to social media.

“Attention viewers,” she told her Instagram followers. “I’m here in my box at Stamford Bridge. I’ve just listened right now to the commentator, saying that Thiago Silva is not attacking enough.

“Respect Thiago Silva, because Thiago Silva arrived yesterday. Thiago Silva played for Brazil. Thiago Silva is very tired. Thiago Silva is 37 years [old], he plays like he is 20 years old.

“So respect him, he’s not a machine. He needs to relax, alright?”

It is not clear what television feed or commentator she was referring to, but criticism of Chelsea’s performance was not in short supply on Saturday.

Thomas Tuchel himself admitted that his team’s defensive efforts simply disappeared as the Bees secured a famous win.

Thiago Silva's wife, Belle, was not happy with the commentator's comments regarding the #Chelsea centre-back.

“We stopped defending,” the Chelsea boss said. “We were not aware of enough of the danger, were sloppy with the defending and got punished.

“They made the most of it in those 10 minutes. Right after their third goal we had 10 minutes where we had big, big chances and we missed them.

“They were lucky and clinical enough to get three goals. We did not defend like it is needed to in the Premier League and got punished.”
