'They’ve carried out…' - Alex Crook issues big behind-scenes Southampton claim

Journalist Alex Crook has claimed that there could be some changes ahead of next season at Southampton.

The Saints had a disappointing end to the 2021/22 league season, ending the campaign without a win in their last six games, whilst taking just one point from a possible 18 on this run.

There was one stage this season where the Saints were in top form, going five Premier League games without a loss while facing Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United – but the poor spell towards the latter stages of the campaign meant they finished just five points above the drop zone.

After the disappointing end of the season for the Saints, Crook spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed there could be some background changes at the club ahead of next season.

He said: “I think they’ve carried out quite an in-depth review about what’s gone wrong in the second half of the season because they’ve barely won a game since mid-February.

“And I think there could even be some change on the coaching staff, not with Hasenhuttl, but maybe with the backroom setup.”

Southampton have had a mixed season in the Premier League this campaign, so it will be interesting to see what happens next season in terms of changes behind the scenes in an attempt to finish higher up the table.
