"They're going to...": Journalist drops huge NUFC transfer claim involving "all the other clubs"

Journalist Pete O’Rourke reckons that Newcastle could be a force in the summer transfer window if they stay in the Premier League.

Following their takeover, the Magpies were the big spenders January, adding five players to their squad which have already improved their chances of retaining their top-flight status.

Kieran Trippier’s foot injury aside, which is set to keep him out of the majority of the season, the last few weeks could hardly have gone better for Eddie Howe’s men.

Not only did they enjoy a productive January window, bringing in Trippier, Chris Wood, Bruno Guimaraes, before sealing deadline day moves for Matt Targett and Dan Burn, but Newcastle are finally heading in the right direction in the Premier League table.

Saturday’s draw at West Ham extended their unbeaten run to six top-flight games, with Howe’s team collecting 12 points from a possible 18 in that period. Unfortunately for the Toon Army, both Watford and Burnley were victories,, meaning the Mapgies are now just four points above the relegation-zone in 17th.

But with confidence high at St James’ Park, Newcastle will surely be planning for another campaign at Premier League level and are no doubt already identifying their summer transfer targets.

And O’Rourke reckons that if Newcastle do avoid the drop, they could compete with anyone in the next window.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think if Newcastle remain in the Premier League they’re going to be a huge competitor to all the other clubs in the transfer market going forward.”

Despite their outstanding recent turnaround, helped by five January signings, a four point gap isn’t very big in the grand scheme of things.

But Newcastle look like the
