Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville says Manchester City knew their clash with Leeds United was a 'pressure game' after they went 2-0 up at Elland Road.
Liverpool temporarily went top of the Premier League table earlier in the afternoon with a 1-0 win over Newcastle United at St James' Park. Pep Guardiola's side responded quickly as they reclaimed top spot with a victory over Leeds.
Rodri opened the scoring early before Nathan Ake extended their lead 10 minutes into the second-half with another set piece goal. The win ensures they maintain control in the title race and Neville pointed out on commentary how important the second goal was, after Leeds enjoyed a brief spell of pressure before half time.
He said after Ake's strike: "That City bench below me has just gone crazy because they know this is a pressure game."
Gabriel Jesus then extended their lead with just over 10 minutes to go before Fernandinho's late goal ensured his side walked away with all three points. Four games remain in the league this season and just one point still separates Liverpool and City in the table.
Jurgen Klopp 's side are next in league action a week today as they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield, before City host Newcastle United the following day.
