There will be no Northern trains running on TWELVE routes on Sunday - full list
These are the 12 Northern routes where all trains have been cancelled on Sunday.
Replacement bus services will replace train services on some routes across Greater Manchester and beyond. The operator has said a 'shortage of train crew' is the reason for the changes. Replacement buses are running between many locations and there are reduced services at Piccadilly and Victoria stations.
On its website, Northern said: "A shortage of train crew across the Northern network means services in the north west may be cancelled at short-notice this weekend. Higher than normal levels of cancellations are taking place, in particular on Sunday, as this is contractually outside of the working week. You are encouraged to plan and check your journey in full before travelling."

Responding to angry passengers on X, Northern wrote: "Recently, we have seen higher levels of cancellations, and we are sorry about that. The underlying reason is train crew availability, in particular on Sundays which is contractually outside of the working week."
Last month Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham described Northern as a part-time rail service' due to the high numbers of cancellations on its trains.
Northern, which runs trains across Greater Manchester and the north west, was renationalised in March, 2020, when it's franchise was taken into public ownership. Northern services have consistently been disrupted on Sundays as the day falls outside of contracted working hours.
