"There are some legs to it" - Journalist drops West Ham transfer claim involving £80k-p/w star

West Ham are interested in re-signing Jesse Lingard this summer but could face an issue with the player’s wages, according to journalist Jacque Talbot.

The attacking midfielder continues to be linked with a return to the London Stadium, and Talbot says there is substance behind all of the speculation.

As per The Guardian, West Ham manager David Moyes is now ready to step up his interest in Lingard.

The same report also states that the Scotsman is willing to consider offers for Said Benrahma as he looks to increase his transfer budget.

Lingard, of course, would not cost a transfer fee, with the 29-year-old set to leave Manchester United for nothing when his contract expires at the end of the month.

However, with Lingard reported to be on around £80,000 a week at Old Trafford and not costing his next club a fee, he is likely to want big money wherever he is playing at next season.

Talbot believes the above could be a problem for West Ham, but he has told GIVEMESPORT that the Hammers are interested in bringing Lingard back to the London Stadium.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “I think they probably have to meet in the middle somewhere with regard to the wage and how it’s done. He can’t have the same wages he was on at Man United.

“I think he’s a very capable attacking midfielder. There are some legs to it obviously, and I think he’d do well for them.”

It looks like Benrahma could be leaving the London Stadium this summer, while Lingard arrives. If that is the plan, it does not sound like a bad one.
