The Sixth Commandment: What happened to murderer Benjamin Field and where is he now?

A new true crime drama airing on BBC One has brought a sinister plot masterminded by manipulative killer Benjamin Field to TV screens. The Sixth Commandment sees Field portrayed by Éanna Hardwicke, starring alongside Timothy Spall and Anne Reid who play victims Peter Farquhar and Ann Moore-Martin.

Field, a churchwarden born in 1991, murdered Peter - a former Manchester Grammar School teacher - in 2015 after a campaign of, in the BBC's words, "extreme gaslighting". Field moved into Peter's home and slipped drugs and alcohol into his food and drinks in a bid to make Peter feel he was losing his grip on reality.

Prosecutors alleged that Field suffocated Peter, who was found dead aged 69 at his home in Maids Moreton, Buckinghamshire, in 2015 by a cleaner.

Ann died of natural causes in a care home aged 83.

Benjamin Field was brought to trial aged 28 in 2019, accused of murdering Peter Farquhar and conspiring or attempting to murder Ann Moore-Martin. Prosecutors said Field had a 'profound fascination in controlling and manipulating and humiliating and killing' and alleged he plotted his crimes with his friend,
