The six Manchester United players who will be out of contract next summer including Anthony Martial

The change of seasons has begun and the clocks will change soon, which means the January transfer window is around the corner.

Manchester United signed Jack Butland, Wout Weghorst and Marcel Sabitzer on loan in the winter window last year, but there were no permanent additions to the squad and the club loaned out multiple youngsters.

The January window also represents the point in the season when players whose contracts expire in the summer are free to negotiate with overseas clubs, meaning contract talks usually open well before the New Year.

United have six players in the squad who are out of contract at the end of the season and they're listed below.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was frozen out of the team at this time last year after being told he wasn't in Erik ten Hag's plans. He forced his way into contention around the festive period and enjoyed an excellent second half of the season.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a renaissance and became first-choice in his position. He retained that starting role for the beginning of the new campaign, but he's currently sidelined with an injury and his absence has been felt.

There's the option to trigger a one-year extension, but talks for a fresh deal are underway and fans want Wan-Bissaka to stay.

Victor Lindelof

Victor Lindelof is another key member of the first-team squad whose contract expires, albeit there is a one-year extension option. The centre-back is not first choice in his position but he's proven to be a valuable squad player over the years.

He's now into his sixth season in Manchester, having been signed by Jose Mourinho from Benfica in 2017
