The sick brute who beat mum-of-two to death after drinking 11 pints - then filmed her naked and dying

A violent brute who beat his partner to death in what a judge called a 'sustained, brutal and ultimately deadly attack' has been jailed for life.

Jason Gowen, 26, was on bail awaiting sentence for violence against a previous partner when he murdered 37-year-old nursery worker Fiona Robinson, a mother-of-two. A court heard after he attacked Fiona, he filmed her naked as she lay dying with horrendous injuries.

Gowen, who admitted murder, was said to pose a 'significant threat to women' as he was ordered to serve a minimum of 20 years behind bars, although a judge said he may never be released if he still poses a risk to the public.

Fiona's mother said after the case she has nightmares and added: "As soon as I open my eyes she is in my thoughts. No mother should ever have to bury her child, especially in such circumstances."

He attacked Fiona in May 2023 at the home they shared in Chorley, Lancashire, after consuming at least 11 pints of beer, a court heard. During the attack, he took a still photograph of her vomiting and recorded a humiliating video of her naked and seriously injured, mocking her as he filmed, Preston Crown Court heard.

Throughout the hearing, Gowen sat with his head in his hands as details of the sickening injuries she suffered were set out in court. Further details of an attack on a former partner, for which he was on bail at the time, were also read out. Fiona suffered injuries consistent with being strangled and smothered, and injuries to her lower back which caused bleeding into her abdominal cavity, reports Lancs Live.

Each of the injuries could have been fatal in its own right, Home Office pathologist Dr Alison Armour said.
