The Rock threatened with legal action by Megan Rapinoe over XFL logo
Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, has been issued with a legal notice over the logo for his professional American football league XFL.
A consortium led by The Rock, Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale purchased the XFL in August 2020, saving the league after it had been plunged into bankruptcy by the previous owner, WWE chairman Vince McMahon.
Ahead of the 2023 season, XFL launched a new brand identity, including a logo and promotional video.
Megan Rapinoe, a two-time World Cup winner with the United States women’s national soccer team, took issue with the new branding on Twitter.
She claimed the XFL identity was too similar to the branding for TOGETHXR, a media and commerce company founded by American sports stars Alex Morgan, Sue Bird, Chloe Kim, and Simone Manuel.
“Welp. This is awkward. Only thing @TheRock and @XFL2023 are gonna be cookin up is a response to the Cease and Desist and an ENTIRE new brand ID. @togethxr got this on
