The Rangers mega flop with Servette insider knowledge is desperate for Swiss win at all costs

Kevin Mbabu didn’t play a single game or even make it on the bench for Rangers during an ill-fated loan spell at Ibrox as one of the infamous Newcastle United Five loanees.

But the full back has given his verdict ahead of the battle of two of his former clubs in the Champions League and the Swiss defender admits “I hope Servette will eliminate Rangers, no matter how!”

Mbabu was one of the Magpies quintet sent to Govan along with Haris Vuckic, Remie Streete, Gael Bigirimana and Shane Ferguson at a time when former St James’ Park owner Mike Ashley had an interest in Rangers. Then Rangers caretaker Kenny McDowall claimed he was ORDERED to play the job lot recruits but on Vuckic made any sort of impact in Glasgow and Mbabu was one of two players who made NO appearances, along with Gael Bigirimana, who later played for Motherwell and Hibs.

But after returning to Newcastle United he then moved back to his Swiss homeland where he joined Young Boys and from there earned an £8 million move to Wolfsburg and then returned to the English Premier League with Fulham. However, he was sent on loan from Craven Cottage last season to Servette.

And he’s been looking ahead to the Euro clash at Ibrox, with some advice for his old team-mates. The 28-year-old said: “Ibrox is very impressive. The fans in Glasgow are very, very hot. It starts from the warm-up, it continues during the match of course. There is this idea of intimidating the opponent, of whistling him, of provoking him too. Everything is applauded, a tackle, a corner, a muscular intervention. Servette will discover a cauldron and in this cauldron, Servette will have to keep a cool head.
