The quick and simple 18p trick to help clear away a frozen windscreen
A simple trick which costs as little as 18p can help to defrost car windows.
It certainly is feeling a lot colder, with temperatures forecast to plummet to a chilly -8C across parts of the country this week. Temperatures will drop to -4C in Greater Manchester as we head into December.
Unfortunately, many of us still have to face the daily commute - and that means defrosting our vehicles. It can be a timely job and is an extra step many dread first thing in the morning.

But a viral hack has been praised by drivers across social media. All that's needed is warm water and a freezer bag. Changes are you already own the household essential.
But if not, a pack of 15 XL freezer bags from Tesco cost £2.75 - making each freezer bag just 18p. Here's what you need to do.
Simply take a freezer bag and pop the kettle on. While the water is boiling, add some cold water into the plastic bag. Once the kettle has boiled, wait for it to cool down slightly and add some hot water into the bag.
Putting the bag into a glass to hold it open may help. Make sure you don't fill it all the way up - a little bit will do. Then, close it up - ensuring the bag's properly sealed - and take it outside.
It's worth switching on the engine and putting on the heating in the meantime as back-up. Next, pop the bag of warm water on the glass windshield a gently wipe away the ice.
