The players that will leave Oxford United on a free this summer unless contracts are renewed

Three defeats in a row before Friday’s 3-2 win over Fleetwood Town has seen the club fall to 8th in the League One table.

The gap to 6th place is now five points with only three games remaining in the campaign.

There are currently 11 players with the club whose contracts expire at the end of the season so it could be a busy summer ahead for the U’s as they look to gain Championship promotion.

Of those 11 players, some do retain an option in their agreements with the club to trigger an extra 12 month extension.

That includes the likes of Leon Chambers-Parillon, James Henry, Elliot Moore and Sam Winnall.

Of those four players, all of them could have their contract extended, but Winnall has had a difficult time since arriving in 2020 so it wouldn’t come as a shock if his contract was not extended.

Chambers-Parillon has enjoyed a stint on loan with Havant & Waterlooville this season, but could yet still prove a useful player for Karl Robinson’s side.

Moore and Henry are all but guaranteed to have their contracts extended such is their importance to the side both on and off the pitch.

Elsewhere, more difficult decisions will need to be made with options available for the other seven players all out of contract in June.

Sam Baldock only joined the club in February as a free agent, but has made a positive impact despite injury concerns, so Oxford may look to extend his stay in the team to next season.

Billy Bodin has become an important player since joining from Preston North End last summer so it would come as no surprise if the club looked to keep him at the Kassam Stadium beyond the expiration of his current deal.

Michael Elechi’s future is much more unclear. The 20-year old has been out on loan this season with Chippenham
