The players that will leave Hartlepool United on a free this summer unless contracts are renewed

The team is set for an overhaul in the upcoming transfer window with as many as 14 players who have contracts expiring in June. 

Of Hartlepool’s 10 most used players in League Two this season, eight of them have uncertain futures with the club.

The likes of Neill Byrne, Ben Killip and David Ferguson have been the three most used players in the side this season, starting 40, 39 and 39 league games respectively.

But all three have deals with the club that run out in the summer so decisions will need to be made quickly over their futures.

All three have been key to the side this campaign so tying them down to longer contracts will be a must.

Luke Molyneux has started 32 league games for the League Two side this season and has eight goals to his name.

The 24-year old would be a huge loss to the team if his contract is not renewed beyond the end of the campaign.

The likes of Gary Liddle, Oluwarotimi Odusina and Mark Shelton have also all contributed with over 2,000 league minutes each to Graeme Lee’s side this season.

Those are three further players who will quickly need replacing if the team is to lose them and still compete at a high level in the Fourth Division. 

Tom Crawford is another good squad player whose contract expires soon that the club will have to look into tying down on a longer-term basis. 

While the midfielder hasn’t had the most influential presence in the side this season, he has still offered the team plenty and is worth keeping beyond the summer.

Meanwhile, Joe Grey, Reagan Ogle, Marcus Carver, Martin Smith and Jordan Cook have all struggled for consistent game time.

Maintaining these players in the squad will be of less importance, but Grey did feature 27 times in League Two so far this season so still
