The National Trust hut with breathtaking views of North Wales you can book for £30 a night

For those who want to get away from it all and take some time off-grid, then you can spend the night in a rustic stone hut nestled in the heart of Snowdonia (Eryri). The National Trust allows groups of up to eight people to hire the Tan Y Coed Bothy, located near the hamlet of Nantmor in North Wales, for £26 a night.

Described as 'an idyllic retreat from modern life' the bothy offers basic accommodation for walkers in the area, or for 'anyone looking to get back to basics for a couple of days'. Bothies are traditional shelters found in the countryside, designed for hikers to spend a night or two and offering a 'camping with walls' experience.

While the Tan y Coed Bothy lacks a lot of home comforts (there is no electricity and just one cold water tap), it does offer a unique experience and something a little different to a night under canvas. Inside the main sleeping area are three wooden bunk beds, a sink and a storage shelf.

A second room contains two single sleeping platforms and outside in an outbuilding is where you’ll find the toilet. While guests will need to bring their own airbeds, sleeping mats, bedding and cooking equipment, it does mean you don’t have the hassle of setting up a tent.

The bothy is located in a 'peaceful wild area' and it has incredible views of the surrounding countryside. It’s the ideal base for anyone looking to explore the nearby area and there are some incredible walks to do nearby.

A stone’s throw away from the bothy are the beautiful waters of Llyn Dinas, a tranquil lake with breathtaking mountain scenery. There are lots of walks to do in the area, including a 5.7 mile route from Nantmor
