The mood in Manchester United's dressing room ahead of Man City fixture

Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof insists everyone within the squad is "looking forward" to Sunday's showdown with derby rivals City at the Etihad Stadium.

United, who were beaten 2-0 by City at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture back in November, will make the short hop across town looking to get back to winning ways. The Reds were held to a goalless draw by lowly Watford last weekend at Old Trafford, despite creating more than enough chances to secure all three points.

The draw with Watford, coupled with West Ham's win over Wolves less than 24 later, saw United's grip on fourth-place reduced to just two points. West Ham play first this weekend, travelling to Liverpool on Saturday evening, so the top four picture could change again by the time the derby kicks off on Sunday (4.30pm kick off).

With City currently riding high at the top of the table, United will make the trip to the Etihad as underdogs — although they have won their last three visits in league and cup. So they will be hoping past experience serves them well.

Lindelof insisted United's players are relishing the contest and know that they have to prepare well to secure maximum points.

"I think everyone is looking forward to that," Lindelof said, speaking to United's club website. "It's a massive game and you always want to play in the biggest games, so I think everyone is very, very excited for that game.

"Right now we're just trying to prepare in the best way possible. Hopefully we can go out there and perform well.

"When it's a derby, you always want to win and perform well."
