The Manchester based brewery that's become so much more than a place to drink beer

Joseph Holt Brewery, a historic independent brewery based in Manchester, is reaching out to its loyal customers to participate in a special project commemorating the company's remarkable 175 years in business.

Established in 1849 the brewery has remained a family-owned enterprise for an impressive six generations with 127 pubs across the North West. In the process, Joseph Holt's award-winning ales and beers have become much-loved brands.

Now, as the company gears up to celebrate its 175th anniversary they are embarking on a unique endeavour to create a 2025 calendar in aid of charity. This will feature pictures from the present and the past of customers enjoying the pubs and award-winning ales as well as their experiences of the venues as places which are at the heart of the communities they serve.

The brewery is launching a two-year charity appeal to raise £500,000 for The Christie Hospital and Holt Radium Institute with which it has a long and ongoing association. Proceeds from the calendar will go to the cause.

Joseph Holt marketing manager, Paul Longmire said: "There is so much affection for Joseph Holt and so much history associated with our brewery . Staying in business for 175 years and going from strength to strength whilst preserving all our family aims is really something to be proud of. So, we really want to produce a special calendar to reflect this.

"Of course, are customers being a critical part of our success, not least because over the years it has become clear that our pubs are so much more than places to drink beer or enjoy delicious food. They are also social hubs, places to hold charity events and for our customers to enjoy a warm,
