The little-known Netflix alternative that does not cost you a penny

Netflix prices will rise on 20 May for every person who is currently an account holders.

Basic and standard plans have increased by £1 per month to £6.99 and £10.00 respectively, and the premium subscription will increase by £2 to £15.99. With over 14 million UK subscribers it could see a large number decide to cancel their account amid the UK's biggest cost of living crisis in decades.

Netflix is not the only streaming service to raise prices. Rival service Disney+ has increased prices from £5.99 a month to £7.99 a month for UK subscribers.

Meanwhile, Amazon charges £5.99 per month for a Prime Video subscription or you can get it as part of a Prime subscription that also opens up access to Amazon Music and free delivery when ordering items via the Amazon Prime service. However, there is another little-known section of Amazon that offers free films and TV series and all you need to do is sign up.

Amazon owns film website IMDB and in 2019 launched a free TV service on the site. Last month it rebranded to Amazon Freevee and it is currently available on the Amazon website. The service is free and includes TV series such as Sinbad, Bosch: Legacy and Hell's Kitchen. It also includes documentaries on everything from wildlife and nature to the life of Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

The service is available on the Amazon website here and offers a cost-free alternative for those who no longer want to pay for their Netflix subscription.
