The lavish restaurant inside city centre hotel that's just been nominated for five awards

A Manchester restaurant in a city centre hotel has bagged five nominations at a top industry award ceremony. Peter Street Kitchen, based in The Edwardian Manchester hotel on Peter Street, has been shortlisted for the Restaurant of the Year award at the sixth annual British Restaurant Awards (BRA).

The Japanese-Mexican venue, set within the historic 19th-century Free Trade Hall location, features a menu including the likes of gyoza tacos, Japanese Wagyu, sashimi, and seafood truffle risotto.

Peter Street Kitchen has also been nominated for Best Luxury Restaurant, Best Hospitality Team, Best Culinary Experience and Best Restaurant in Manchester. First opened in 2018, the unique Peter Street Kitchen restaurant is loved by celebrities including Lucy Fallon, Ryan Thomas, and Jack Grealish, and previously won Best Culinary Experience at the British Restaurant Awards 2022.

Also nominated for the Best Restaurant in Manchester award are Another Hand, Higher Ground, 20 Stories, Adam Reid at The French, Erst, Dishoom and Rigatoni’s. Deansgate bistro Another Hand and Higher Ground, on New York Street, were both also recently named within the annual 100 Best Local Restaurants list for 2024.

The Mezz, based at the AO Arena, and chef Tom Barnes’ Skof, which opened in May, also made the shortlist, with Skof also being nominated in the Best New Restaurant category. Rigatoni's nomination in the Best Restaurant in Manchester category comes amid a difficult few months for the pasta restaurant. It announced earlier this year it was closing its third site in a matter of months, with its Altrincham restaurant remaining.
