The January transfer targets Steven Gerrard and Aston Villa could return to this summer
Aston Villa could be in store for yet anther busy summer transfer window.
Steven Gerrard has plenty to discuss with sporting director Johan Lange and CEO Christian Purslow in the coming months, from discussing returning loans, new contracts and of course, the possibility of signing Philippe Coutinho on a permanent basis.
After delivering an excellent January window having signed Coutinho on loan, spent £25million on Lucas Digne and strengthened the squad in recruiting Calum Chambers and Robin Olsen, Villa's chiefs will be drawing up plans for the summer already.
Here are some players that Villa were linked to in January, who could become summer targets...
The Bologna full-back has been in fine form this season, contributing to five goals in 25 Serie A games.
Hickey was said to be on Villa's radar in January before the club spent £25million on former Everton left-back Digne.
Though, reports claim Villa remain interested in the 19-year-old with Matt Targett set to leave the club on a permanent basis.
Bologna could demand up to £15million for their defender, with Celtic and Brentford also interested.
Villa were heavily linked with a move for Gomez in January; boss Gerrard of course has strong Reds links and he was keen to freshen up his defensive ranks after moving out loanee Axel Tuanzebe.
And reported claim Villa will rivalled by moneybags Newcastle this summer if they were to pursue a deal for the Liverpool defender who could cost £25million.
England international Gomez has fallen further down the pecking order at Anfield, behind summer signing Ibrahima Konate and existing first choice picks Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip.
Indeed El Nacional claim that he is keen to leave Merseyside this coming summer transfer
