The ‘hidden gem’ North Wales road trip with a waterfall named among best in the UK

A waterfall in North Wales has been named among the best hidden spots in the UK for a road trip, according to new research. Rhaeadr Dyserth, an impressive 70ft waterfall, has been included in a list of the top ten places in the country for a scenic road trip.

The only Welsh spot to be included in the top ten, the waterfall is formed by the River Ffyddion and is surrounded by caves and woodland trails. There is free parking available at the waterfall and a suggested donation of just 50p, the Express reports.

Researchers at Hippo Leasing looked at Instagram and TikTok hashtags data for 173 road trip destinations in the UK and focused on the number of posts. They then identified the least documented yet most picturesque spots that offer a tranquil experience.

Rhaeadr Dyserth boasts an impressive 246 posts and ranked in seventh place on the list. Berneray West Beach on the Isle of Berneray, Scotland bagged the number one spot, taking the title of the UK’s best ‘hidden gem’ road trip destination, with fewer than 100 posts on Instagram and Tiktok combined.

Also in Scotland, Eas a’Bhradain on the Isle of Skye came in second, while Blackslee Waterfall in Northern Ireland came third. Luckily for us a few other places nearby made the top ten, including Ritson’s Force in the Lake District and East Gill Force in the Yorkshire Dales.
