The Greater Manchester suburb which now has one of 'strongest' sellers' markets in the UK

One Manchester area has been named as having one of the 'strongest' sellers' markets in the UK, according to recent data. A new study by property website Rightmove has revealed the 10 areas where demand is far outweighing supply, where any available homes are being swept off the market.

Chorlton, a suburb in south Manchester, has made the list as one of the top sellers' markets and is the only Greater Manchester area to be featured. The trendy area, which is popular with young professionals, is one of the most sought-after places to live with 74 percent of homes listed for sale this year having been marked as Sold Subject to Contract (SSTC), reports Rightmove.

With more prospective buyers than there are properties to go around, househunters wanting to move to Chorlton are competing against one another to snap up a home. This level of demand is driving house prices up across the suburb, with the pricing power left in the hands of sellers.

Over the last year property prices across the suburb have soared by 9 percent, with the average home now costing £381,836, which is higher than the Great Britain average of £371,907. This is also a whopping 15 percent higher than the 2020 peak of £330,862.

"Managing a short supply of houses for sale in the Chorlton area with high purchaser demand is currently a challenge for my company," says Richard Antrobus, director of VitalSpace Estate Agents.

"Whilst we have seen a jump in the number of people getting in touch with us to have their home valued, demand to live in the Chorlton area is most certainly outstripping supply of houses for sale."

The leafy suburb is proving popular
