The Ashes: Lord's, Oval, Edgbaston and more iconic venues to host women's event

Lord’s, The Kia Oval and Edgbaston are among the iconic venues selected to host the Women’s Ashes next year.

The Ageas Bowl, Trent Bridge, the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol and the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton have also been chosen for the multi-format cricket series.

Competition will begin with a five-day Test match at Trent Bridge from June 22nd to 26th.

It will be England Women’s first five-day Test match on home soil, and their first visit to Trent Bridge since 2000.

Edgbaston, the Kia Oval and Lord’s will then all be hosting their first Women’s Ashes IT20s, on July 1st, 5th and 8th respectively.

This will be followed by three one-day internationals – at the Seat Unique Stadium on July 12th, The Ageas Bowl on July 16th, and the Cooper Associates County Ground on July 18th.

The women’s competition will start one week after the men’s, which consists of five Test matches at Edgbaston, Lord’s, Headingley, Emirates Old Trafford and The Kia Oval.

Both the men and women’s teams will be hoping to regain The Ashes following defeats in Australia last year.

“Next summer will be huge for England Women and England Men,” said interim ECB chief executive Clare Connor.

“There are few events more special in English sport than a home Ashes series and I know that Heather [Knight], Ben [Stokes], and their teams, will be excited and driven by the challenge of regaining the Ashes.

“I am particularly delighted that we have announced our England Men and England Women’s fixtures side by side for the first time, meaning that supporters can enter the ballot or register interest for any fixture on the same day.
