The 20-second clip that made Newcastle United fans rave over 'starboy' debut

A viral clip of Elliot Anderson's debut performance at Bristol Rovers has impressed Newcastle United fans.

The talented teenager sealed a deadline-day loan switch to the League Two side, and will work under former Magpies midfielder Joey Barton until the end of the season.

Barton praised Anderson within days of his arrival, insisting he was at a 'Superman age' where the challenge of stepping outside of his 'comfort zone' will not faze him.

The 19-year-old was introduced as a 57th minute substitute during Rovers' 1-1 draw at Sutton United, and delivered a confident cameo which hints he could be involved from the start sooner rather than later.

Sam Frost, Bristol Rovers reporter for Bristol Post, wrote: "Elliot, fresh off two training sessions with the Gas after a deadline day loan move from Newcastle United, was introduced for his debut early in the second half, and the young Geordie altered the flow of the game.

"One standout comment made by the manager in South London was that Anderson’s arrival has put several players in the squad “on notice”.

"The 19-year-old has rocked up at Rovers and made a big impression, and a place in the starting XI could soon be his."

It was a 20-second clip shared on social mediafrom Anderson's debut which received praise from proud Newcastle fans, with the teenager starting an attack from within his own half and almost applying the finishing touch.

The attacker draws opponents by the halfway line and fires it wide, before a clever one-two allows him to attempt to dink Dean Bouzanis in goal.

Anderson has quickly made an impression with Rovers, and here's how Newcastle fans reacted to the clip of his debut.
